# Not empty

**Category:** Condition

**Version:** 1.0

**Last updated:** Januari 5, 2025

**Author:** Any2Info

### Description

The **Not Empty** node evaluates the result set of a previous node (most commonly a **Compare** node) and determines whether the dataflow should continue based on the selected result type.

### Configuration Options

Defines which subset of the previous node’s result is evaluated for emptiness.

<table><thead><tr><th width="187">Setting</th><th width="145">Required</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Default</strong></td><td>Yes</td><td>Uses the default output of the previous node</td></tr><tr><td><strong>All</strong></td><td>No</td><td>Evaluates all records, regardless of change status.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>New</strong></td><td>No</td><td>Evaluates only records that did not exist in the previous comparison run.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Changed</strong></td><td>No</td><td>Evaluates only records that existed before but have changed</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Deleted</strong></td><td>No</td><td>Evaluates only records that existed before but are no longer present.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>New or changed</strong></td><td>No</td><td>Evaluates records that are either new or modified. This is the most common option for incremental processing</td></tr><tr><td><strong>New, Changed or Deleted</strong></td><td>No</td><td>Evaluates any type of difference detected</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Unchanged</strong></td><td>No</td><td>Evaluates records that are identical to the previous run</td></tr></tbody></table>

***

### Usage

The **Not Empty** node is most commonly placed directly after a **Compare** node to prevent downstream processing when no relevant changes are detected.

***

### Tips & Best Practices

* Use **Input result = New or Changed** for standard incremental dataflows.
* Avoid using **Unchanged** unless explicitly validating stable datasets.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://academy.any2info.com/any2info-academy/no-code-platform/data-studio/data-hubs/toolbox/condition/not-empty.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
